A number-one pick who justified the boos

Houston took Mario Williams first overall in 2006 ahead of Reggie Bush and Vince Young, and the pick drew boos that aged badly. The NC State product was an enormous, explosive edge rusher who overwhelmed tackles with size and speed.

Madden gave him 97s in the 2008 and 2012 editions, one in Houston and one after his big free-agent move to Buffalo. Four Pro Bowls and nearly 100 sacks later, he was exactly the game-wrecker a top pick should be.
