Michael Pittman Sr.: 124 rushing yards in Super Bowl XXXVII
Michael Pittman Sr. was born on August 14, 1975, in New Orleans, Louisiana, and attended Mira Mesa High School in San Diego. He rushed for 3,017 yards at Fresno State and was named first-team All-WAC Pacific Division in 1997. The Arizona Cardinals selected him in the fourth round of the 1998 NFL draft, 95th overall, and Madden NFL 99 carried his rookie season at a calculated 83 overall. He started 12 games in 2000 and 14 in 2001, when he ran for 846 yards.
Pittman signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for the 2002 season, which Madden NFL 03 listed at 78 overall. On January 26, 2003, he rushed 29 times for 124 yards in Tampa Bay's 48-21 win over the Oakland Raiders in Super Bowl XXXVII. He caught 75 passes for 597 yards in 2003. Suspended for the first three games of 2004, he still set a career high with 926 rushing yards and broke off a 78-yard touchdown run against Kansas City on November 7; Madden NFL 05 rated that season 82, and Madden NFL 07 put his 2006 season at 83.
He signed with Denver in May 2008 and was placed on injured reserve with a neck injury. Pittman finished with 5,627 rushing yards, 25 rushing touchdowns and 425 receptions for 3,512 yards. He is the father of wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr.
