Marco Rivera was born on April 26, 1972 in Brooklyn, New York, played at Penn State, and was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the sixth round in 1996, 208th overall. He was inactive all of his rookie year, started ten games for the World League's Scottish Claymores in 1997, and won the Packers' left guard job in 1998. Madden NFL 99 put him at a calculated 86 for the 1998 season, when he started 15 games.
He moved to right guard in 1999 and started all 16 games in each of the next six seasons. He made his first Pro Bowl after the 2002 season, played with torn medial collateral ligaments in both knees. Madden NFL 04 rated him 90 for 2003, when he was also a second-team All-Pro, and Madden NFL 05 rated him 92 for 2004, the last of three straight Pro Bowl seasons.
Dallas signed him to a five-year, $20 million contract in 2005. He had disc surgery before that season, started 14 games, and Madden NFL 06 rated him 95 for 2005. He injured his back again in the January 2007 wild-card loss at Seattle and was released on June 7, 2007 after a second operation. He played 155 games with 141 starts and entered the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame in 2011.
