Walter Jones Madden Career 1999-2010 - Peak 99 OVR

Walter Jones was born on January 19, 1974 in Aliceville, Alabama. He played two seasons at Holmes Community College, then started 11 games at Florida State in 1996 and earned second-team All-ACC honors. Seattle drafted him sixth overall in 1997, and he started all 12 games he played as a rookie. Madden NFL 99 put him at a calculated 84 for the 1998 season.

He was voted to the Pro Bowl after the 1999 season and after every season from 2001 through 2008, and he was first-team All-Pro for 2001, 2004, 2005 and 2007. Madden NFL 04 rated him 95 for the 2003 season. He started at left tackle for the 2005 team that lost Super Bowl XL to Pittsburgh 21-10, blocking for Shaun Alexander's MVP season, and Madden NFL 07 rated him 99 for the 2006 season.

Seattle threw more than 5,500 passes with him on the field, and he was charged with 23 sacks allowed and nine holding penalties. A knee injury on Thanksgiving 2008 against Dallas ended his season in what became his 180th and final game, and microfracture surgery followed. He announced his retirement on April 29, 2010, and Seattle retired his number 71 that December. He started all 180 games he played and was elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2014, his first year of eligibility.
