Mike Alstott was born December 21, 1973 in Joliet, Illinois, played fullback at Purdue, and joined Tampa Bay with the 35th pick of the 1996 draft. He started all 16 games as a rookie and was named second-team All-Pro. Madden NFL 98 put him at a calculated 73 for 1997, the first of six straight Pro Bowl seasons.
He was first-team All-Pro from 1997 through 1999, and Madden NFL 2001 rated him 96 for 2000. Madden NFL 03 rated him 78 for 2002, the season that ended with a 48-21 win over Oakland in Super Bowl XXXVII on January 26, 2003. A neck injury limited him to four games in 2003.
Alstott scored two touchdowns and ran in the winning two-point conversion in a 36-35 victory over Washington on November 13, 2005. Madden NFL 07 rated him 91 for 2006, his last season on the field. A second neck injury put him on injured reserve in 2007, and he announced his retirement on January 24, 2008 with 5,088 rushing yards, 58 rushing touchdowns and 305 receptions. The Buccaneers inducted him into their Ring of Honor on October 4, 2015.
