Kurt Schulz Madden Career 1997-2002 - Peak 89 OVR

He did not take up football until his junior year of high school in Yakima, Washington, coming to it from soccer and track. That late start did not stop Eastern Washington from turning him into a seventh-round pick in the 1992 draft, and it did not stop him from lasting a decade in the league. Schulz spent eight seasons with the Bills, arriving just as the dynasty was cresting. He played in six postseasons and dressed for the back-to-back losses to Dallas in Super Bowls XXVII and XXVIII. Across 129 games and 93 starts he piled up 244 interception return yards and took one pick back for a score before finishing with two years in Detroit.

His Madden numbers follow the same climb as his snap count. He sat at a 59 in the 1996 edition while rotating through the Buffalo secondary, then jumped to a 90 in the 2000 edition once he was a fixture at free safety, holding an 89 the year after. When the playing was done he traded the field for a desk at Merrill Lynch.
