Jake Reed Madden Career 1992-2003 - Peak 98 OVR

Jake Reed was born on September 28, 1967, in Covington, Georgia, and played college football at Grambling State from 1987 to 1990. The Minnesota Vikings took him in the third round of the 1991 draft with the 68th pick, which they had acquired in the Herschel Walker trade. He appeared in one game as a rookie and caught 11 passes in his first three seasons combined.

Reed became a starter in 1994 and caught 85 passes for 1,175 yards; his calculated rating for that season in Madden NFL 95 was 98. He gained 1,000 or more yards in each of the next three seasons, including a career-high 1,320 yards in 1996, a year Madden NFL 97 rated 77. He was named NFC Offensive Player of the Month for September 1997 after 34 catches for 521 yards.

An injury limited him to 11 games in 1998, a season for which Madden NFL 99 carried a calculated rating of 94. Reed signed with the New Orleans Saints in 2000, returned to Minnesota in 2001 for 16 games without a start, rated 69 in Madden NFL 02, and closed his career in New Orleans in 2002. He caught 450 passes for 6,999 yards and 36 touchdowns in 155 games. He and Cris Carter were the first teammates to each gain 1,000 receiving yards in four consecutive seasons.
