North Dakota State's end who anchored Buffalo's line for a decade
Hansen came from North Dakota State, a Division II program he helped to national titles in 1988 and 1990, and the Bills grabbed him in the second round in 1991. He made the all-rookie team and then simply stayed, a fixture on Buffalo's defensive line for eleven seasons, all of them in one uniform.
He arrived as the Bills were making their run of four straight Super Bowls and played in three of them. The championships never came, but the production did: 61.5 sacks over his career, the durability of a player who lined up every Sunday, and enough standing that Buffalo put him on its Wall of Fame in 2011. After football he ran for the Minnesota state senate as a Republican in 2012.
Madden offers only a few snapshots of him, but they land at the right times. He was an 81 in the 1996 edition during his prime, and by the 2000 game his rating reached a career-high 91, before slipping to 76 in the 2001 edition as his long run wound down.
