Bryan Barker Madden Career 1992-2004 - Peak 89 OVR

Barker punted in the NFL for sixteen seasons, an eternity for a Santa Clara kicker who went undrafted and had to earn every job. He broke in with Kansas City in 1990, then became the first punter in Jacksonville Jaguars history when the expansion team launched in 1995, staying six years. He finished with 1,132 punts for 47,641 yards and a 42.1 gross average across 238 games with the Chiefs, Eagles, Jaguars, Washington, Packers and Rams.

His best work came in Jacksonville. In 1999 he uncorked an 83-yard punt and dropped a record-tying eight punts inside the 20 in a single game, field-flipping value that specialists rarely get credit for. In 2002 he suffered a broken nose and a subdural hematoma on a hit against Dallas and kept playing. The Madden line captures the peak: a modest 43 in the 1996 edition, a surge to 91 in the 2000 edition after his strongest Jacksonville years, then a slow settle into the 70s and low 80s as he aged.
