Shippensburg's undrafted corner who played taller than his frame
Grimes went unpicked in the 2006 draft out of Division II Shippensburg, spent a season in NFL Europe winning World Bowl XV with the Hamburg Sea Devils, and turned a 5-foot-10 body into one of the great vertical leaps at the position. He played seven years in Atlanta, then three in Miami and three in Tampa Bay, and left with 33 interceptions and four Pro Bowls (2010, 2013, 2014, 2015). His signature was hang time. In 2014 he plucked a one-handed interception off a pass meant for Calvin Johnson, and a year earlier he took a Cincinnati throw back 94 yards for a score.
His Madden number traced the same climb. He entered as a 68 in the 2008 edition, cratered to a 46 in the 2009 edition when he was still a backup, then rebuilt himself into a 91 by the 2014 edition after his first Dolphins season. He earned second-team All-Pro that year at age 31, proof that the leaping corner from a small school was no accident.
