The fullback whose name became a stadium-wide chant
Green Bay fans would drop their voices into a long, guttural 'Kuuuhn' every time he touched the ball, a chant so deep that visiting broadcasters kept mistaking it for booing. John Kuhn never gave them reason to boo. Undrafted out of Division II Shippensburg in 2005, where he ran for 4,685 yards and 53 touchdowns and drew no scholarship offers from bigger schools, he caught on with Pittsburgh and won a ring as a rookie in Super Bowl XL.
He found his home in Green Bay from 2007 to 2015, blocking for Aaron Rodgers, pounding in short-yardage touchdowns, and winning a second title in Super Bowl XLV. He made three Pro Bowls as a fullback, a position the league was busy phasing out. In the 2013 finale against Chicago he threw a cut block on Julius Peppers that freed Rodgers to hit Randall Cobb for the touchdown that won the NFC North.
Madden treated him as a specialist whose value swung year to year. He was an 85 in the 2008 edition, dipped to 73 in the 2010 edition, then climbed to a career-best 93 in the 2014 edition when the fullback still had a defined job. He finished with the Saints and retired a Packer.
