Miles Austin was born on June 30, 1984 in Summit, New Jersey, and caught 150 passes for 2,867 yards at Monmouth. Dallas signed him as an undrafted free agent in 2006, making him the first Monmouth player to reach the NFL. He returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown in the January 2007 wild-card game at Seattle, and Madden NFL 08 rated him 61 for 2007, a year he spent mainly on special teams.
His first NFL start came on October 11, 2009 against Kansas City: 10 catches for 250 yards, breaking Bob Hayes's 1966 Cowboys single-game record, and two touchdowns. He finished 2009 with 1,320 yards and 11 touchdowns and made the Pro Bowl, then made it again on 1,041 yards in 2010, a season Madden NFL 11 rated him 88. Hamstring injuries cost him six games in 2011, the year Madden NFL 12 rated him 89.
He caught 66 passes for 943 yards in 2012 and 24 for 244 in 2013 before Dallas released him on March 11, 2014. Madden NFL 15 rated him 77 for 2014, a Cleveland season that ended on injured reserve with a kidney injury, and he played 2015 in Philadelphia. He coached for San Francisco in 2019 and coached Jets receivers from 2021 until the NFL suspended him in December 2022 for violating its gambling policy. He finished with 361 receptions for 5,273 yards and 37 touchdowns.
