Edwin Mulitalo Madden Career 2002-2009 - Peak 92 OVR
The left guard who paved Jamal Lewis's 2,000-yard road
Before Baltimore threw the ball, it ran a fist down defenders' throats, and Edwin Mulitalo was the knuckles at left guard. A fourth-round pick in 1999 out of Arizona, by way of Ricks College in Idaho, he anchored the left side of the Ravens line for eight seasons.
He won a ring as a second-year starter when Baltimore throttled the Giants 34-7 in Super Bowl XXXV. His finest blocking came in 2003, when Jamal Lewis ran for 2,066 yards, including a 295-yard afternoon against Cleveland, much of it behind Mulitalo's pulls and double teams. He wore number 64 for his entire career, starting 128 of 132 games with the Ravens and then the Lions in 2007 and 2008.
Madden treated him like the anchor he was. He opened at 75 in the 2000 edition, slipped to 67 the next year, then climbed as the Ravens ground game reached full strength, hitting a 92 in the 2004 game that reflected the Lewis season. He held in the high 80s and low 90s for three more editions before tailing off in Detroit.
