The right tackle who beat New England for two rings
Kareem McKenzie won two Super Bowls at right tackle, and both came at the expense of the same team: New England, in Super Bowl XLII and again in Super Bowl XLVI. At 6'6" and 329 pounds he was a wall in the run game long before the rings. The Jets drafted him in the third round, 79th overall, out of Penn State in 2001, and he opened lanes for Curtis Martin through three straight 1,000-yard seasons, capped by Martin's 1,697 yards in 2004.
He left for the Giants in 2005 and immediately helped Tiki Barber set a franchise record with 1,860 rushing yards, then settled in as the right tackle on the two Eli Manning title teams. After football he went a different direction entirely, earning a Ph.D. in counseling from Kean University in 2023.
His Madden rating tells the story of a late bloomer. He came in as a 53 in the 2001 edition as a raw rookie, climbed steadily to a 90 in the 2005 edition, and topped out at a 93 in the 2008 edition on the strength of that first championship run.
