The catch that toppled an undefeated team
Plaxico Burress caught the winning touchdown in Super Bowl XLII, the pass that toppled the undefeated Patriots, a towering red-zone target who used his size to overwhelm cornerbacks. The Michigan State product was the deep threat on a championship offense.
Madden had him at 81 and a 96 by the 2008 edition, his best stretch with the Giants. An off-field incident that led to a prison term cost him his prime, a serious matter best stated plainly, but the catch remains one of the most famous in Super Bowl history.
