Donovan McNabb was born in Chicago on November 25, 1976, and played college football at Syracuse. Philadelphia drafted him second overall in 1999. He started six of the 12 games he played as a rookie, a season covered by a calculated rating of 77 in Madden NFL 2000. He was selected to the Pro Bowl after each of the next five seasons.
He led the Eagles to four consecutive NFC Championship Games from 2001 through 2004. On January 11, 2004, he completed a fourth-and-26 pass to Freddie Mitchell in the final minute of regulation against Green Bay, and Philadelphia won in overtime. Madden NFL 04 listed him at 95 for the 2003 season. In 2004 he threw 31 touchdown passes against eight interceptions, and on February 6, 2005, he passed for 357 yards and three touchdowns in a 24-21 Super Bowl XXXIX loss to New England.
Madden NFL 06 listed him at 97 for the 2005 season, which a groin injury ended after nine games. He earned a sixth Pro Bowl selection in 2009 and was traded to Washington in April 2010, a season for which Madden NFL 11 listed him at 89. He started six games for Minnesota in 2011 and retired on July 29, 2013, with 37,276 passing yards and 234 touchdown passes. The Eagles retired his number 5 in 2013.
