Jake Delhomme Madden Career 2002-2011 - Peak 92 OVR

Jake Delhomme was born on January 10, 1975, in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, and played college football at Southwestern Louisiana, now Louisiana-Lafayette. The New Orleans Saints signed him as an undrafted free agent after the 1997 draft. He spent 1998 with the Amsterdam Admirals and 1999 with the Frankfurt Galaxy, winning World Bowl '99, and made his first NFL start for the Saints that year. Madden NFL 02 listed him at 54 for the 2001 season.

Carolina signed him in 2003, and down 14-0 at halftime of the opener against Jacksonville he replaced Rodney Peete and won the game on a fourth-down throw with 16 seconds left; Madden NFL 04 rated him 75 for that season. The Panthers reached Super Bowl XXXVIII, where he passed for 323 yards and an 85-yard touchdown to Muhsin Muhammad, the longest touchdown pass in Super Bowl history, and lost 32-29 on an Adam Vinatieri field goal.

He made the Pro Bowl after the 2005 season, and Madden NFL 07 graded his 2006 season at 92, his highest figure. An elbow injury in the third game of 2007 ended that year. Carolina went 12-4 in 2008 with Delhomme starting every game, then lost the divisional round to Arizona 33-13 on January 10, 2009, his 34th birthday, after he threw five interceptions. A broken finger sent him to injured reserve in 2009, a season Madden NFL 10 graded at 80. He played five games for Cleveland and one for Houston, and he entered the Carolina Panthers Hall of Honor in 2019.
