Price arrived at Tennessee's 1998 national title as a big-play threat, catching four passes for 199 yards and the deciding 79-yard touchdown against Florida State in the Fiesta Bowl and sharing co-MVP honors. Buffalo took him in the second round in 1999, 53rd overall, and for a few years he was the ideal complement to Eric Moulds.

In 2002 it all came together: 94 catches, 1,252 yards and nine touchdowns. Atlanta saw a number-one receiver and traded a first-round pick for him, the pick Buffalo spent on Willis McGahee. Price never matched that year again, drifting through Dallas and back to Buffalo and finishing with 403 receptions for 5,281 yards and 31 scores.

Madden captured both the promise and the letdown. He opened at 83 in the 2000 edition, dipped to 70, then his breakout pushed him to a career-high 91 in the 2003 game. The number fell steadily after the trade, down to 77 by the end as the deep threat that made him rich never fully resurfaced.
