Bobby Engram: Biletnikoff winner, 650 catches over 14 seasons

Bobby Engram was born on January 7, 1973, in Camden, South Carolina, and played college football at Penn State, where he won the first Fred Biletnikoff Award in 1994. The Chicago Bears selected him in the second round of the 1996 draft with the 52nd pick. He caught 33 passes for 389 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie, and Madden NFL 97 listed him at 65 overall for that season.

Engram started all 16 games in 1998 and gained 987 yards. In 1999 he caught 88 passes for 947 yards, and later that season he set a Bears franchise record with 13 receptions for 143 yards and two touchdowns; his calculated rating for 1999 in Madden NFL 2000 was 85. An injury ended his 2000 season after three games, and he signed with the Seattle Seahawks in 2001.

He spent eight seasons in Seattle and led the team with 67 catches in 2005, when the Seahawks reached Super Bowl XL. His 94 receptions and 1,147 yards in 2007 were career highs and a franchise single-season record at the time, and Madden NFL 08 rated him 82 for that year, followed by 87 in Madden NFL 09 for the 2008 season. He played five games for the Kansas City Chiefs in 2009 and announced his retirement on January 28, 2011, joining the San Francisco 49ers coaching staff the same day. He finished with 650 receptions for 7,751 yards and 35 touchdowns in 176 games.
