His mother Barbara played middle linebacker for the Los Angeles Dandelions in women's professional football, and his father, an undercover Los Angeles detective, was killed in the line of duty when Marvcus was nine. An eighth-round Bills pick out of UCLA in 1990, Patton walked into Buffalo just as its dynasty was peaking and was part of the roster during its run of four straight Super Bowl trips.
