Takeaway Tre, the Bills lockdown corner undone by his knee
Buffalo spent the 27th pick of the 2017 draft on the LSU corner, and White paid it off immediately, snatching four interceptions as a rookie and finishing runner-up for Defensive Rookie of the Year. Two years later he tied for the NFL lead with six picks, earned First-Team All-Pro honors, and reached a point where quarterbacks simply stopped testing his side of the field. The nickname Takeaway Tre stuck for a reason.
The body eventually betrayed the talent. White tore his ACL on Thanksgiving 2021, then ruptured an Achilles in 2023, and the shutdown corner Buffalo drafted never fully returned. He finished the year in 2024 with brief stops in Los Angeles and Baltimore before circling back to the Bills in 2025, with 19 interceptions across 109 games.
His Madden line reads like an injury chart. He debuted at a 78 in the 2017 edition, rose steadily to a 93 in both the 2021 and 2022 editions, then slid to a 74 by the 2025 edition after the knee and the Achilles took their toll.
