Justin Durant came out of Hampton, an HBCU, the first in his conference to win Defensive Player of the Year three straight times. He built a well-traveled starting career, the Jaguars, Detroit, and two separate stints in Dallas.

Madden climbed him from a 70 to an 85 by the 2011 edition, then held him in the 80s, a career-high 103 tackles in Detroit among the reasons, the grade dipping only when a hamstring and a torn bicep pulled him off the field in Dallas. A defensive captain during his Cowboys stints, roughly 500 tackles across a decade with five teams, good whenever he was healthy.
