Marshawn Lynch was born on April 22, 1986 in Oakland, California, played at Oakland Technical High School and the University of California, and was drafted 12th overall by Buffalo in 2007. Madden NFL 08 rated him 83 for his rookie season. He made his first Pro Bowl after the 2008 season, and Madden NFL 09 rated him 90 for that year. Buffalo traded him to Seattle in October 2010.

On January 8, 2011 he scored on a 67-yard run against New Orleans in a 41-36 wild-card win, and the crowd noise registered on a seismometer near the stadium. He led the NFL with 1,590 rushing yards in 2012 and was named first-team All-Pro. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014, and Madden NFL 25 rated him 96 for the 2013 season, which ended in a Super Bowl XLVIII win over Denver.

Lynch announced his retirement during Super Bowl 50 in February 2016, then returned in an April 2017 trade to Oakland, where Madden NFL 18 rated him 85. A groin injury put him on injured reserve in October 2018. He finished with 10,413 rushing yards and 85 rushing touchdowns in 149 games, and last played on January 12, 2020, scoring twice in Seattle's divisional-round loss at Green Bay.
