Rookie of the Year who came back from two shredded knees
Cadillac Williams ran for 434 yards in his first three NFL games and never stopped fighting after that. The fifth overall pick out of Auburn in 2005, he rushed for 1,178 yards as a rookie and won the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year award, edging his former Auburn backfield mate Ronnie Brown. Then the injuries came for him.
He tore the patellar tendon in his right knee in 2007 and the one in his left knee in 2008, a double blow that ends most careers. Williams became the first NFL player to return from patellar tendon tears in both knees, grinding back for 823 yards in 2009. He finished up with Tampa Bay and a season in St. Louis before turning to coaching, later serving as Auburn's interim head coach in 2022.
Madden captured the rise before the fall. He debuted at 83 in the 2005 edition, then his rookie campaign vaulted him to a career-high 90 in the 2006 game, with an 88 the year after. The knees pulled the number down to 77 by the 2010 version.
