Outland Trophy winner, two Pro Bowls with Jacksonville
John Henderson was born on January 9, 1979 in Nashville, Tennessee, and played college football at Tennessee, where he totaled 162 tackles, 38.5 tackles for loss and 20.5 sacks in three seasons. He won the Outland Trophy in 2000 and was a consensus All-American in 2000 and 2001. Jacksonville drafted him ninth overall in 2002, and he started 13 of 16 games as a rookie. Madden NFL 03 rated him 74 for the 2002 season.
At 6-7 and 335 pounds he lined up next to Marcus Stroud in the Jacksonville defensive line for six seasons. He was selected to the Pro Bowl for the 2004 season and again for 2006, when he was also named second-team All-Pro. Madden NFL 05 rated him 90 for the 2004 season and Madden NFL 07 rated him 94 for 2006.
Henderson started 15 games in 2009, his final year with the Jaguars, and Madden NFL 10 rated him 88 for that season. He joined Oakland in 2010 and played two seasons there. He recorded 489 tackles and 29 sacks across ten NFL seasons and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2025.
