A Bears first-rounder whose knee injury cost him nearly three seasons
Marc Colombo was born on October 8, 1978 in Bridgewater, Massachusetts. He started at both tackle spots at Boston College and earned All-Big East honors in 2001, and the Chicago Bears drafted him 29th overall in 2002. He started five of the ten games he played as a rookie before dislocating his left kneecap and damaging his femoral nerve in a November 2002 game. Madden NFL 03 rated him 69.
Colombo missed the entire 2003 season on the physically-unable-to-perform list and injured reserve, and was not activated in 2004 until November 8. Chicago waived him in September 2005, and Dallas signed him that November. He won the right tackle job in 2006 and started all 16 games, a season for which Madden NFL 07 rated him 72. He started every game again for the 13-win 2007 Cowboys, and Madden NFL 09 rated him 88 after the 2008 season.
He broke his left fibula against Green Bay on November 15, 2009 and returned for the January 2010 playoff win over Philadelphia. Madden NFL 11 rated him 78 for 2010, his last season in Dallas. Released in July 2011, he signed with Miami and started all 16 games at right tackle, then returned to Dallas on April 20, 2012 to retire as a Cowboy. Colombo coached the Cowboys offensive line in 2018 and 2019 and the Giants line in 2020.
