Cornelius Griffin Madden Career 2002-2010 - Peak 90 OVR

Griffin's pre-draft workout was good enough that Giants GM Ernie Accorsi pegged him as a certain first-rounder; New York landed the Alabama tackle in the second round, 42nd overall, in 2000. As a rookie he started Super Bowl XXXV and recorded 1.5 sacks, though the Giants were routed 34-7 by Baltimore.

He gave two NFC East franchises a decade of stout interior play, four years with the Giants and six in Washington, finishing with 461 tackles, 29 sacks, and four forced fumbles. His best statistical season came in 2004, his first in Washington, with 96 tackles and six sacks. The Madden progression matched his reputation as a run-stuffer teams could rely on: a 71 in the 2000 edition, hovering in the low 70s early, then a climb to 86 in the 2003 game and a career-high 90 in the 2006 edition. He rarely filled the stat sheet with splashy numbers, but for ten years he held his gap and let the linebackers behind him run free.
