Fred Beasley was born on September 18, 1974, in Montgomery, Alabama, and played fullback and tailback at Auburn, finishing with 1,241 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns. The San Francisco 49ers drafted him in the sixth round, 180th overall, in 1998. He played all 16 games as a rookie without a start, a season Madden NFL 99 put at a calculated 60.
Beasley started 15 games in 2000, carried 50 times for 147 yards and caught 31 passes, and Madden NFL 2001 rated him 82 for that year. His work shifted almost entirely to blocking as the carries fell away. He was named second-team All-Pro in 2002 and again in 2003, when he started at fullback for the NFC in the Pro Bowl and Madden NFL 04 rated him 89.
Madden NFL 06 rated him 96 for 2005, a nine-game season that was his eighth and last in San Francisco. He signed with the Miami Dolphins in 2006 and the Washington Redskins in 2007 without appearing in a regular-season game for either, and Washington released him on September 1, 2007. Beasley finished with 610 rushing yards, eight rushing touchdowns and 133 receptions for 1,017 yards.
