Steve McKinney Madden Career 1999-2008 - Peak 89 OVR

Steve McKinney went to Indianapolis in the fourth round, 93rd overall, out of Texas A&M in 1998, and he started all 16 games at left guard as a rookie on his way to PFWA All-Rookie honors. He spent four years blocking for the Colts, then made history of a smaller sort in 2002 when he became the first unrestricted free agent the expansion Houston Texans ever signed. In Houston he moved to center and became a constant, starting every game in 2002 and 2003 and finishing his career with 133 starts in 143 games before a torn ACL ended his run in 2007. His younger brother Seth also made a living on NFL offensive lines.

His Madden line reflects the move inside. He sat at 76 in the 2000 and 2001 editions as a Colts guard, jumped to 85 in 2002 once he was Houston's center, and reached his best grade of 89 in the 2004 edition. From there it eased down through the 80s to a 77 in the 2008 edition as his career closed.
