Doug Flutie Madden Career 1999-2006 - Peak 90 OVR

Doug Flutie was born on October 23, 1962 in Manchester, Maryland, played at Boston College and won the 1984 Heisman Trophy. He signed with the USFL's New Jersey Generals before the 1985 NFL draft, in which the Los Angeles Rams took him in the 11th round, 285th overall. His rights went to Chicago in 1986, and after stints with the Bears and the New England Patriots he spent 1990 through 1997 in the CFL, where he was Most Outstanding Player six times.

Buffalo signed him in 1998. He made his first NFL start in nine years on October 18, 1998, scoring the winning touchdown against unbeaten Jacksonville, and was named NFL Comeback Player of the Year and a Pro Bowler. Madden NFL 99 carried a calculated 69 for that season. He led the Bills to 11-5 in 1999, for which Madden NFL 2000 gave him a calculated 90, then was benched for the wild-card loss remembered as the Music City Miracle. Madden NFL 2001 listed him at 85 for 2000.

Flutie started 16 games for San Diego in 2001 and finished as a New England backup, drop-kicking an extra point on January 1, 2006. He retired on May 15, 2006 with 14,715 passing yards and 86 touchdown passes, and entered the College Football Hall of Fame in 2007.
