Eddie George was born on September 24, 1973 in Philadelphia, won the 1995 Heisman Trophy at Ohio State, and was drafted by the Houston Oilers 14th overall in 1996. He ran for 1,368 yards as a rookie and was named Offensive Rookie of the Year. Madden NFL 97 listed him at 29 for that 1996 season, and Madden NFL 98 put him at a calculated 95 for 1997, the year the franchise relocated to Tennessee.
George started all 16 games in each of his eight seasons with the Oilers and Titans. He made four consecutive Pro Bowls from 1997 through 2000 and was a first-team All-Pro in 2000, the season Madden NFL 2001 rated him 94. He scored two rushing touchdowns in the Titans' 23-16 loss to the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXIV on January 30, 2000.
His yardage declined over his final Tennessee seasons, and Madden NFL 05 rated him 85 for 2004, the year he played 13 games for the Dallas Cowboys. He retired in 2006 with 10,441 rushing yards, 68 rushing touchdowns and 268 receptions. George entered the College Football Hall of Fame in 2011, the Titans retired his No. 27 in 2019, and he coached Tennessee State from 2021 through 2024 before Bowling Green hired him in 2025.
