William Floyd Madden Career 1995-2000 - Peak 82 OVR

William Floyd was the last fullback ever drafted in the first round, taken 28th overall by San Francisco in 1994 out of a Florida State team that had just won the national title. They called him Bar None, a nickname the broadcaster John Madden loved to say, and the rookie earned it, bulling into the end zone three times in the playoff run to Super Bowl XXIX and scoring again in the win over San Diego.

Madden's grade opened at an 82 for that 1994 rookie season, a strong number for a first-year back, and then the injury hit. In 1995 Floyd tore three ligaments in his knee while leading the NFL in receptions, and the rating slipped to reflect a player who was never quite the same battering ram again. It climbed back into the 70s and 80s over the rest of his career, including his years with Carolina, but the knee had taken the explosion.

Floyd finished with more than 1,100 rushing yards, 25 total touchdowns and a Super Bowl ring, a productive career cut back at its peak by one bad landing. For one rookie season, though, he was exactly what the first-round grade promised, a lead blocker and short-yardage hammer on a champion, bar none.
