Chad Hennings Madden Career 1995-2000 - Peak 85 OVR

Chad Hennings had already served his country before he ever played an NFL down. An Outland Trophy winner at the Air Force Academy in 1987, he owed the military years of service, and he spent them as an A-10 Warthog pilot, flying dozens of missions over northern Iraq before his football career began. The Cowboys had drafted him in the eleventh round in 1988 and simply waited; he joined the team in 1992, a rookie who had already flown combat.

Madden rated him a solid rotational lineman. Hennings peaked at an 85 in Madden NFL 99 for the 1998 season, and bounced through the 40s and 80s otherwise, the noisy grades of a rotation defensive tackle who played a real role without ever starting full time.

Hennings won three Super Bowls with Dallas and finished with 27.5 sacks across nine seasons, all with the Cowboys. His football career was a good one, a productive rotational tackle on a dynasty, but it is not the most impressive thing on his resume, and it never could be. Madden's grades mark a solid pro. The A-10 marks a life the game has no rating for.
