Kevin Greene was born July 31, 1962, in New York City, played at Auburn, and was taken by the Los Angeles Rams in the fifth round, 113th overall, of the 1985 NFL Draft. He recorded 16.5 sacks in 1988 and 16.5 again in 1989, when he made his first Pro Bowl and was named second-team All-Pro.

Madden NFL 92 put him at a calculated 66 for the 1991 season, a year he lined up at defensive end and recorded 3.0 sacks. He signed with Pittsburgh in 1993, led the NFL with 14.0 sacks in 1994 and was named first-team All-Pro; Madden NFL 95 rated him a calculated 86 for that season. He led the league again with 14.5 sacks for Carolina in 1996, his second first-team All-Pro year.

Greene spent 1997 in San Francisco, playing 14 games with four starts and recording 10.5 sacks, and Madden NFL 98 listed him at a calculated 46 for that season. He returned to Carolina, posted 15.0 sacks in 1998 and made his fifth Pro Bowl, and Madden NFL 99 gave him a calculated 91 for the year. He played 228 games over 15 seasons and finished with 160.0 sacks, third in NFL history. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2016 and died on December 21, 2020.
