Ole Miss tight end with 450 catches and 54 touchdowns

Wesley Walls was born on February 26, 1966 in Batesville, Mississippi, played linebacker and tight end at Ole Miss, and was taken by the San Francisco 49ers 56th overall in 1989. He caught a nine-yard pass in the 49ers' 55-10 win over Denver in Super Bowl XXIV, then sat behind Brent Jones, spending 1992 and most of 1993 on injured reserve with shoulder injuries.

He signed with New Orleans in 1994 and caught 57 passes for 694 yards in 1995, then a Saints record for a tight end. Madden NFL 95 put him at a calculated 69 for the 1994 season and Madden NFL 96 at a calculated 66 for 1995. Carolina signed him in 1996, and he caught 61 passes for 713 yards and 10 touchdowns, the first of five Pro Bowl seasons. Madden NFL 97 listed him at 24 for that year.

Walls was a second-team All-Pro in 1996, 1997 and 1999, and his 12 touchdown catches in 1999 tied the then-record for a tight end. Madden NFL 99 gave him a calculated 92 for the 1998 season, and Madden NFL 2001 listed him at 91 for 2000, a year injuries held him to eight games. He played 2003 in Green Bay, retired in 2004, and was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 2014.
