Clyde Simmons: Eagles DE, 121.5 sacks, 19 in 1992

Clyde Simmons Jr. was born on August 4, 1964 in Lane, South Carolina, grew up in Wilmington, North Carolina, and played college football at Western Carolina. The Philadelphia Eagles drafted him in the ninth round in 1986, 233rd overall. On November 20, 1988 at Giants Stadium he picked up a blocked Eagles field goal and returned it for the touchdown that beat the Giants 23-17 in overtime.

Simmons was a first-team Associated Press All-Pro and a Pro Bowl selection in both 1991 and 1992, and he led the NFL with 19 sacks in 1992, a season Madden NFL 93 covered with a calculated 72. He left for Arizona in 1994, where Madden NFL 95 carried a calculated 98, the highest figure of his career.

He joined Jacksonville in 1996 and returned a Jim Kelly interception for a touchdown in the Jaguars' 30-27 wild-card win at Buffalo on December 28, 1996. He spent 1998 in Cincinnati and 1999 and 2000 in Chicago, where Madden NFL 2001 listed him at a stored 80 for his final season. Simmons later coached defensive lines, including for the Rams, the Browns from 2017 and Bowling Green from March 2025. He finished with 121.5 sacks in 15 seasons and was inducted into the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame.
