Andre Rison: 743 catches, 84 TDs, seven NFL teams
Andre Previn Rison was born on March 18, 1967, in Flint, Michigan, and played college football at Michigan State. The Indianapolis Colts drafted him in the first round of the 1989 NFL Draft with the 22nd pick, and he caught 52 passes for 820 yards as a rookie. Indianapolis traded him to the Atlanta Falcons in April 1990.
The Associated Press named Rison first-team All-Pro in 1990 and second-team in 1991, 1992 and 1993, and he made four straight Pro Bowls from 1990 through 1993. He tied for the NFL lead with 15 receiving touchdowns in 1993, a season for which Madden NFL 94 rated him a calculated 86, and Madden NFL 95 followed with a calculated 99 for 1994. In June 1994 his house burned down after Lisa Lopes of the group TLC set fire to his shoes in a bathtub; she was charged with first-degree arson.
Rison signed a five-year, $17 million contract with Cleveland in 1995, then played for Jacksonville and Green Bay in 1996, a season for which Madden NFL 97 listed him at 53. He caught the opening touchdown of Super Bowl XXXI, a 54-yard pass from Brett Favre. Kansas City signed him for 1997, when he made his fifth Pro Bowl, and Madden NFL 99 had him at a calculated 90 for 1998. He finished with 743 receptions for 10,205 yards and 84 touchdowns, won the Grey Cup with Toronto in 2004, and was among the former athletes interviewed in the 2012 ESPN documentary Broke.
