Cole Beasley was born on April 26, 1989 in Houston, Texas, played quarterback at Little Elm High School and moved to receiver at SMU. He went undrafted in 2012 and signed with the Dallas Cowboys, appearing in 10 games as a rookie. He settled into the slot over the following seasons and caught 75 passes for 833 yards and five touchdowns in 2016, a year Madden NFL 17 rated him 77.

On March 13, 2019 he signed a four-year, $29 million contract with the Buffalo Bills. He caught 67 passes for 778 yards in his first season there, and Madden NFL 20 rated him 83. In 2020 he set career highs of 82 receptions for 967 yards and was named second-team All-Pro. He caught 82 passes again in 2021, the season Madden NFL 22 rated him 86.

Beasley released a debut album, The Autobiography, in 2018 and co-founded the independent label ColdNation Records in Frisco, Texas. He played two games for Tampa Bay in 2022 and announced his retirement on October 5 of that year, then returned to Buffalo's practice squad on December 13. He finished with 556 receptions for 5,744 yards and 34 touchdowns.
