Eugene Monroe Madden Career 2010-2016 - Peak 89 OVR

Eugene Monroe left Virginia as a unanimous All-ACC tackle and winner of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy, and Jacksonville made him the eighth overall pick in 2009. He started 62 of 65 games for the Jaguars and played every snap in 2012 before an October 2013 trade sent him to Baltimore to protect the blind side there.

What set him apart came off the field. In March 2016 he became the first active NFL player to publicly challenge the league's marijuana policy, arguing for medical use as safer pain management. That July, at just 29, he retired and cited concern about repeated head trauma and the long-term risk to his brain, disclosing memory problems of his own.

His Madden grade climbed with his play, sitting in the low 80s early, rising to 87 in the 2012 edition, and holding a peak of 89 across both the 2013 and 2014 editions before dropping to 82 in his final 2015 rating.
