Tashard Choice was born November 20, 1984 and played high school football at Lovejoy High School in Lovejoy, Georgia. He signed with Oklahoma, redshirted in 2003 and lost the starting job to Adrian Peterson in 2004, then transferred to Georgia Tech. He led the ACC in rushing in 2006 and 2007 and was the first Georgia Tech player to run for 1,000 yards in consecutive seasons. Dallas took him in the fourth round of the 2008 draft, 122nd overall.
Injuries to Marion Barber and Felix Jones gave him carries late in his rookie year, and he ran 23 times for 88 yards against Pittsburgh on December 14, 2008. He finished that season with 472 rushing yards, and Madden NFL 09 rated him 77. He gained 349 yards in 2009, a season Madden NFL 10 rated 76, and he ran for 100 yards against Indianapolis on December 5, 2010.
Dallas waived him on October 29, 2011 with 1,139 rushing yards and eight touchdowns for the club, and Madden NFL 12 rated him 74 that season. Washington claimed him and released him within a month, and Buffalo claimed him the next day. He spent 2012 and most of 2013 with the Bills and closed his playing career with three games for Indianapolis. The Detroit Lions hired him as running backs coach on February 13, 2025.
