First tight end to string three 1,000-yard seasons
Greg Olsen became the first tight end in NFL history to post three straight 1,000-yard seasons, stacking them from 2014 through 2016 in Carolina. A Miami product taken 31st overall by the Bears in 2007, he spent four years in Chicago before finding his footing with the Panthers as Cam Newton's security blanket, making three Pro Bowls and finishing with 742 catches for 8,683 yards and 60 touchdowns across stops in Chicago, Carolina, and a final season in Seattle.
Madden charted his slow rise and long prime, from a 79 as a 2007 rookie to a 93 in the 2016 edition, the game that landed right after his third consecutive thousand-yard year. The broadcasting talent surfaced almost the moment he stopped playing. Olsen slid into the Fox booth, climbed to the network's lead analyst chair alongside Kevin Burkhardt, and called a Super Bowl before Tom Brady took the seat, a second act that sounded natural from his very first game.
