Jeremiah Ratliff, known as Jay, was born on August 29, 1981, in St. Petersburg, Florida. He moved from tight end to the defensive line at Auburn, and the Dallas Cowboys drafted him in the seventh round of the 2005 draft, 224th overall. He played four games as a rookie and started none of his 15 appearances in 2006.
Dallas moved him to nose tackle for the 2007 season, and Madden NFL 08 rated him 71. He recorded 7.5 sacks in 2008 and made the first of four straight Pro Bowls, and Madden NFL 09 rated him 84. He added six sacks in 2009. Madden NFL 11 rated him 94 for the 2010 season, the highest figure of his career, and he started all 16 games in both 2010 and 2011.
A sports hernia limited him to six games in 2012, and Dallas terminated his contract in October 2013. Chicago signed him weeks later, and Madden NFL 25 rated him 84 for that season. He started 11 games for the Bears in 2014 and played twice in 2015 before the club released him on October 22, 2015, a day after an altercation with the general manager at the team facility. Ratliff finished with 35 sacks in 122 games and never played again.
