For one quarter against Houston in 2006, Lee Evans was the most dangerous man in football. He caught two 83-yard touchdowns in the first quarter, the first player in league history to post two 80-plus-yard scores in a single frame, and piled up 205 receiving yards in those fifteen minutes, a Bills record. Speed was his whole game and it was plenty.
Buffalo took the Wisconsin star 13th overall in 2004, and he set a franchise rookie record with nine touchdown catches. His 2006 season, 82 grabs for 1,292 yards, stands as his high-water mark, and he stretched defenses for six seasons before finishing with 377 receptions, 5,934 yards and 43 scores. In the 2011 AFC Championship Game with Baltimore, a would-be winning touchdown was knocked from his hands by Sterling Moore, and the Ravens lost.
His Madden ratings mirrored his role as a pure deep threat, holding at 87 through the 2005 and 2006 editions before climbing to 90 in 2007 and cresting at 91 in the 2008 edition, then tapering as the speed and the targets thinned late in his career.
