Ken Hamlin was born January 20, 1981, in Memphis, Tennessee, played safety at Arkansas and left with a school-record 381 tackles. The Seattle Seahawks drafted him in the second round, 42nd overall, in 2003. He started 14 games as a rookie, made 96 tackles and was named to Pro Football Weekly's All-Rookie team. Madden NFL 04 rated him 68 for 2003, and after four interceptions in 2004 Madden NFL 05 rated him 86.
On October 17, 2005, Hamlin was struck with a street sign in an altercation outside a Seattle nightclub. He suffered a fractured skull, a blood clot and bruising to the brain, and missed the rest of a season that had lasted six games. He returned in 2006 to start all 16 games with 96 tackles and a team-leading three interceptions, and Madden NFL 07 rated him 85 for that year.
Seattle let him reach free agency and he signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys in March 2007, then made the Pro Bowl that season with five interceptions. Dallas gave him a six-year contract in July 2008, a season for which Madden NFL 09 rated him 90. The Cowboys released him in April 2010, and he split his last year between Baltimore and Indianapolis. He finished with 489 tackles and 15 interceptions.
