Andre Carter came out of Cal as the seventh overall pick in 2001, a long, bendy edge rusher for the 49ers. He grew into a durable pro across three franchises, most productively in Washington, where he posted 11 sacks in 2009 and stacked double-digit-sack seasons. His single best afternoon came in New England: on November 13, 2011, Carter dropped Mark Sanchez four times, tying the Patriots' single-game sack record.
He played until 2013, with stops in Oakland and a return to the Patriots, and earned a Pro Bowl trip for the 2011 season. Once he was done chasing quarterbacks he moved into coaching.
His Madden arc captured the front half of that career. He opened at 75 as a rookie in the 2001 edition, and the rating jumped fast, reaching a 91 in 2003 and a career-high 92 in the 2004 game. It settled into the 80s through his Washington years before easing down as he moved into a rotational role late.
