Undrafted kicker who owned Buffalo for a decade
Rian Lindell went undrafted out of Washington State in 2000 and built a decade in Buffalo out of it. After brief early stops in Dallas and Seattle, he settled in as the Bills' kicker from 2003 through 2012, leaving as the most accurate field-goal kicker in franchise history at 83.3 percent and second all-time in team scoring with 979 points. He also made 321 straight extra points to open his career, an NFL record, and drilled a 56-yarder in 2009.
The Madden numbers swung the way a kicker's fortunes do, bottoming out at a 53 in the 2002 edition, then rising through steadier seasons to a peak of 92 in the 2008 edition. He handled the wind and cold of Orchard Park for ten years, closed out with Tampa Bay in 2013, and went home to teach and coach high school football in Washington.
