Luke Petitgout Madden Career 2000-2008 - Peak 90 OVR
The Giants' first-round tackle who settled in on the left side
Notre Dame sent him to the Giants 19th overall in 1999, and New York moved him around before finding his home. He played left guard and right tackle first, then took over at left tackle in 2002 and held the spot for years. Along the way he started on the offensive line for the Giants team that reached Super Bowl XXXV, a lopsided loss to the Ravens after the 2000 season.
Durability was the fight late. Back trouble, a broken leg in 2006, and a torn ACL in 2007 wore him down, and after a two-year finish in Tampa Bay he was released in 2008. Pro Football Focus still named him an All-Pro in 2006, and Delaware later put him in its state sports hall of fame.
His Madden ratings held remarkably steady. He opened in the mid-70s in the 2000 and 2001 editions, then jumped to a 90 in both the 2003 and 2004 editions at the height of his left tackle run, staying at 89 for four straight editions after that.
