Lance Schulters was born on May 27, 1975 in Guyana, spent two seasons at Nassau Community College before transferring to Hofstra, and was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the fourth round of the 1998 draft with the 119th pick. He appeared in 15 games as a rookie without a start, a season for which the calculated Madden NFL 99 rating was 74.
Schulters won the starting free safety job in 1999 and intercepted six passes across 13 starts, returning one 64 yards for a touchdown that broke a 21-21 tie against New Orleans in Week 2. He was selected to the Pro Bowl for that season, which carried a calculated Madden NFL 2000 rating of 78. He moved to strong safety in 2000 and recorded 88 tackles, a season for which Madden NFL 2001 listed him at 89.
He signed with the Tennessee Titans in 2002 and started all 16 games in each of his first two seasons there, with Madden NFL 04 listing him at 91 for 2003. Schulters played for the Miami Dolphins in 2005, the Atlanta Falcons in 2006 and Miami again in 2007. Over ten seasons he appeared in 121 games with 19 interceptions and 7.5 sacks.
