Marcus Pollard Madden Career 1997-2008 - Peak 90 OVR

Marcus Pollard never played a down of college football. He was a basketball player, a forward at Seward County Community College and then Bradley, where he helped push the Braves to the NIT. The Colts signed him as an undrafted free agent in 1995 on athletic projection alone, and he spent years learning a position from scratch.

The patience paid off. Pollard grew into a dependable target for a young Peyton Manning, posting his best year in 2001 with 47 catches, 739 yards, and eight touchdowns. Across fourteen seasons with the Colts, Lions, Seahawks, and Falcons he piled up 263 receptions, 3,391 yards, and 35 scores, a remarkable body of work for a man who arrived not knowing a route tree.

Madden captured the climb almost literally. His first appearance, in the 1996 edition, tagged him a 23, the rating of an anonymous ex-hooper nobody expected to stick. By the 2000 edition he was an 84, and he topped out at a peak 90 in the 2004 edition, one of the better center-of-the-field values of that era.
