Ken Dilger arrived at Illinois as a quarterback and left as a tight end, a switch that carried him to the second round of the 1995 draft, 48th overall to Indianapolis. He spent seven years as a dependable seam target for the Colts, made the PFWA All-Rookie team, and once went for 156 yards in a game to set a franchise tight-end record. He finished with 356 catches for 4,099 yards and 24 touchdowns across ten seasons.
The 2000 Madden edition graded him at 89, the high mark of his career and a nod to his prime Indianapolis years alongside a young Peyton Manning. After the Colts he signed with Tampa Bay and won Super Bowl XXXVII over the Raiders, catching one pass in the 48-21 win. Indiana put him in its Football Hall of Fame in 2022, and in retirement he did Colts television analysis and even started a banana bread business.
